Dong Phuong is renowned in the local Vietnamese community for its authenticity and for its attached bakery operation, which supplies many other local Asian markets with bread as well as with both sweet and savory pastries. Popular among family groups who often gather around one or two of the tables, the restaurant is known for its Vietnamese seafood egg rolls; the five-spice duck noodle soup; the po' boy-like barbecue pork crispy bun; the jumbo shrimp; and the beef stick around fireplace, with eight skewers holding strips of thin-sliced beef to be dipped into a plum-type sauce with an enticing perfume and a peppery edge.
