Moosomin, Sask, Town, pop 2361 (2001c), 2420 (1996c), 2436 (1991c), 2557 (1986c), area 5.90 km2, inc 1887, is located in southeastern Saskatchewan 15 km W of the Manitoba border. When the CPR entered the North-West Territories in 1882, Moosomin quickly established itself as one of the leading towns on the Prairies. Prior to the development of branch lines, it served an area extending from the Qu'Appelle to the Souris rivers in southeastern Saskatchewan. The community continues as an important service and judicial centre.
