Entrecote St Jean Description:
Located at the heart of the downtown business district, and surrounded by banks and large hotels, L'Entrecôte St-Jean fits right in. Set up like a large French bistro fitted with brass railings and long clean benches that occupy a large portion of the restaurant's real estate, the place caters to a generally upscale business crowd. The menu is Spartan in the extreme: a daily soup, a salad, a main course, and a separate dessert menu. One soup du jour---cream of broccoli---may be uninspired but nicely done nonetheless. A salad is a spare assortment of lettuce, walnuts, and overly simple vinaigrette. The main course sirloin steak in a mild yet tasty mustard sauce with matchstick french fries is satisfying though small. Dessert profiteroles are easy to consume; try not to overdose. They're filled with ice cream and covered with a nice bittersweet chocolate sauce. Service is friendly and professional.
