Stephan's Description:
Harking back to the days when South Beach was a sleepy beach town devoid of good eats, this little gourmet market opened its doors and folks were mesmerized. Now a chain, imported Italian meats and dry goods, homemade fresh mozzarella and ricotta, and a plethora of gourmet sandwiches and salads have kept Stephan's so busy they were forced to implement the take a number system of customer service. Ownership and menu have changed hands since the early days, but Stephan's continues to pull crowds until the wee hours of the night. Good for lunch, but pass on pastries, which are neither made on the premises nor palatable.
