As might be expected of a massive complex housing Bloomingdale's, Coach, and many similar upscale shops, even Aventura Mall's fast food stands serve dishes a step up from standard shopping mall McSteamtable stuff. But the efficient service at this surprisingly serene trattoria brings far superior fare fast enough, in an ambience atmospheric enough, that even speed shoppers might well decide to opt for a civilized sit-down lunch or dinner. The menu will be familiar to patrons of any of local restaurateur Tom Billante's Italian-style establishments (including several other upscale mall ventures: Carpaccio in the Bal Harbour Shops and Villagio in the Village of Merrick Park). But when a formula for commercial success features artisan niceties like fresh fish, house-made pastas such as signature agnolotti Bella Luna (al dente rounds filled with spinach and ricotta, in a not traditionally Italian but very tasty pink cream sauce), focaccia and thin-crusted pizzas from wood-burning ovens, and a mixed berry tart imported from Italy, who's complaining?
