Tobacco Road Description:
On an increasingly hip little block in downtown Miami's Brickell area stands the oldest tavern in Miami, best known for its nightly live music---a rare assortment of local (and sometimes nationally-known) blues, jazz, rock and reggae bands. As the area has gentrified, so has The Road's food menu. Along with the house-made chili, hefty burgers and similar classic bar food, there are now surprisingly refined choices for the business lunch crowd, like a lemon aïoli-dressed Norwegian smoked salmon club sandwich on raisin-pumpernickel bread, served with a house or Caesar salad plus hand-cut fries. At night, more substantial fare includes a bourbon-marinated strip steak, a full rack of ribs (smoked in the parking lot out back), plus specials like Tuesday night's famed ten-buck lobster dinner. And a late-night menu---limited, but featuring the steak and many burgers (including a vegetarian version)---means tasty, cheap eats are available till 4 a.m. on weekends, a few hours earlier other nights.
