Cluny Description:
Cluny is an informal bistro, cheerful and inexpensive. If the menu includes no surprises, or anything that will knock your socks off, it is still reliable and tasty. There are the requisite onion soup au gratin, beef bourguignon, mussels marinière and steak frites, as well as some fresh salads. But much of Cluny's clientele comes here for its crêpes; indeed, it is one of few restaurants in Mexico City that serves them at all. There's a crêpe with four cheeses (Gruyère, Roquefort, Brie and provolone), another called the Monsieur (with ham and Dutch Gouda), and the Mont Blanc (which includes fresh mushrooms with Gruyère). The most novel are those with Mexican touches, such as the Xochitl (with chicken, strips of chile peppers, squash flower, cheese and green sauce). There are also dessert crêpes (with butterscotch, apples or fresh berries). The wine list is small, and like the menu, includes reliable and reasonably priced options.
