Bayou Bar & Grill Description:
Walking into Le Chardonnay feels a bit like entering a rustic wine cellar, with its low lighting and wooden décor reminiscent of aging barrels of some stellar vintage. Young couples, relaxed business executives sans the stuffy dress coats, and theatre and movie lovers headed to nearby venues make up most of the crowd on weekend nights. Le Chardonnay is known as a date restaurant thanks to its romantic ambience. Table candles provide just enough illumination to read the menu. Food ranges from fancy filet mignon stuffed with goat cheese and topped with mango chutney to a large selection of wood-fired pizzas that qualify as the "designer" gourmet style. If pizza is not appropriate, consider the scallops carbonara, the citrus-glazed grouper, the smoked chicken ravioli, or the baked Brie topped with either honey and almonds or pesto. Le Chardonnay boasts one of the most impressive wine lists in Midtown with more than 100 choices (around 40 are offered by the glass). Domestic wines predominate, but other wine growing regions are represented as well.
