Street & Company Description:
Well established popular seafood restaurant set in an exposed brick wall dinning space. Reservations are a must on the weekend and weekdays during the summer.
Dana Street's casually elegant seafood spot is the antithesis of the Maine lobster shack. The menu is indeed all about the seafood, whether sautéed, blackened, tossed with pasta or simply broiled. Start with a taste of the earth with roasted beets with a Greek yogurt cheese and go on to lobster and clam bread pudding baked with saffron cream. In a pan come scallops with a hint of Pernod or blackened Arctic char full of rich flavor and heat. The copper tables are an ideal resting place for cast-iron skillets hot from the oven, filled with seafood prepared without pretension. The restrained creativity accentuates the fish in all its freshness while revealing a decidedly Mediterranean slant, replete with garlic, olives and lemon. The menu rarely changes, so you always can find the lobster Diablo as well as light-as-air sole francaise. More creative offerings are available in small bites in the "tastes" portion of the menu. The only downside is that the dining room fills up quickly, especially in the summer, and can get very loud---so much so that the conversation at the table next to you can distract and even detract from the meal on the table in front of you.
