This family-friendly chain of Wild West-inspired restaurants offers an extensive selection of reliable American dishes in a lively environment, and has been dishing up huge portions of honest food for more than 30 years. The noisy, cavernous space evokes a Hollywood Western set complete with log walls, river rock, corrugated tin and large fireplaces. Kids like the stuffed deer and bison. However, be prepared to wait up to an hour or even longer for a table at this popular spot; the saloon's list of 80-plus cocktails can make the wait easier. Signature plates include hickory-smoked pork ribs with a tangy but tame barbecue sauce, a moist and flavorful rotisserie chicken, and barbecued beef tri-tip. The 26-ounce prime rib or the equally weighty porterhouse will delight carnivores with cowboy-size appetites. All entrées include soup, salad, a starch and bread.
