De La Torre's Restaurant Description:
Chef-owner Miguel de la Torre hails from a family of Madrid chefs. Having inherited his father's paella pans, he makes several savory versions of Spain's national dish, including the house specialty---lobster paella. It takes some time for the paella (cooked-to-order) to arrive tableside, so occupy your palate with choices from the tasty tapas list. Tiny shrimp served on a sizzling plate of garlic butter spiked with pepper can make a light supper with crusty bread and a glass of crisp, light sherry. Hard-core seafood lovers can order the baby octopi cooked in their own ink and served whole. Besides the paella, highly recommended entrées are a fall-apart roasted lamb, a juicy roasted chicken with crisp skin, and marinated pork loin, all served with sides of sliced potatoes and tangy-sweet red cabbage. The wine list is exclusively Spanish and very reasonably priced. Save room for the decadent chocolate mousse covered in hot caramel sauce. White walls inset with colorful tiles of Spanish cities' coats-of-arms set the stage, along with deep-red tablecloths, crafting an ambience that is just right for old Castile. La Bodega, the tapas bar next door (same ownership), is open late. So there's a choice when you are looking for a little more casual atmosphere in which to wile away the night with conversation over small plates of savories and glasses of wine.
