Pecorino Description:
In the former space of popular but relatively short-lived restaurants Woodside and Zax, Pecorino adds to the Italian restaurant scene along San Vincente Boulevard. Formerly at Toscana, owners Mario Sabatini and Giorgio Pierangeli have kept the brick wall décor and the open kitchen which can sometimes be noisy. An elegant clientele of mostly locals come to sample the Italian cuisine of the chef, Raffaele, Mario's twin brother, offering a classic Italian menu with antipasti, soups, pastas and entrées. Salads, a baked onion filled with eggplant and raisins, a tuna tartare or a fava bean soup can be the first part of your meal. You might hesitate between the vast choices of pasta in which many of them you'll find the namesake sheep's milk cheese, or the sea bass, the cod fish and the roasted chicken breast, the pork (a tad dry) or the veal chop stuffed with scamorza cheese and porcini mushrooms. We like the pear au gratin with almonds or millefoglie with almond tiles and strawberry mousse for dessert.
