Wild Honey Description:
Wild Honey's décor of oak panelling and banquette seating is jazzed up by modern art on the walls; the atmosphere is welcoming; the service professional. And the pricing for this level of cooking and location is one of its most attractive traits. The two behind Arbutus, Anthony Demetre and Will Smith, have appointed Colin Kelly as head chef and he pursues the simple formula of the owners: lesser known, seasonal ingredients cooked very well. Ravioli of English veal comes with butternut squash and fresh sheep ricotta; razor clams are cooked in shallots, chilli and parsley. Main courses display similar style: perhaps slow-cooked English veal blanquette, or roast chicken with potato purée, garlic and hazelnuts. The wine list offers wines by the carafe and the list starts at £14.50. It fits well with the current austerity and means that you can eat extremely well and not feel guilty about overspending. No wonder it's packed. Now, is that hard? Set 2-course lunch £14.95, 3 courses £16.95; pre-and post-theatre, 2 courses £16.95, 3 courses £18.95.
