Yauatcha Description:
Restaurateur Alan Yau (of Hakkasan fame) started this tea house and dim sum venue in 2004 and despite selling the major share, still remains as CEO. It has evolved since its beginnings; the ground floor tea room has shrunk as the basement restaurant has become more popular and although you can now book you're only allowed 2 hours. But although some people find such restrictions irritating, Yauatcha remains a draw and fashionable. And it continues to serve some of the best dim sum in town, like venison puffs, prawn and enoki mushroom, or pork and spring-onion dumplings, all light and delicate with such appealing flavours you find yourself ordering more and more. Then there is the tea part of the restaurant, where topnotch East-West tastes mingle in confections like spiced macaroons. And the tea list is legendary. Dim sum £3.50-£15. Set tea £22.50-£31.
