Olivo Description:
You'll get a decent Italian meal in decidedly jolly surroundings here: colours are yellows and blues, service is brisk. The menu, which is standard rather than innovative, is thoroughly dependable with its typical Sardinian bottarga, or dried mullet roe, grated onto spaghetti. Main courses rely on char-grilling, so try salmon with parsley and anchovy sauce, or a simple chicken escalope with fresh herbs. Desserts are good, but go for the Italian cheeses. The all-Italian wine list is pricy. Olivo has a great buzz and sparkle, and makes a good informal night out. An expansion includes a pizza and pasta restaurant, Oliveto, in nearby Elizabeth Street and the smart seafood restaurant, Olivomare, in Lower Belgrave St. Set 2-course lunch £19.50, 3 courses £20.50.
