Imo's Pizza Description:
Pleasant downtown Kirkwood houses a storefront Imo's that, like most of the chain's locations, is short on ambience. Nonetheless, a steady stream of locals rotates through. St. Louis-style pizza causes no ambivalence---it's either loved or hated. Key components are a cracker-thin crust, square pieces, a sweet-tangy tomato sauce and gobs of Provel cheese (a gooey, tooth-sticking combination of cheddar, Swiss and provolone that's unique to St. Louis). House salads, festooned with more of the same cheese, are simple but not bad, except for the sweet house dressing. Provel also features heavily in the pastas and sandwiches, and it does melt nicely over salsiccia.
