Most people stop for an hour in Iznik on the drive between Istanbul and Bursa. The site of the first Ecumenical Council of the Christian Church (in 325 AD), it was also where the "Nicene Creed" was developed. Iznik's major claim to fame is that it was the center of Turkish tile-making in the 16th and 17th centuries.
