The Iberian Pig Description:
Replacing Sage on Sycamore after a long run comes The Iberian Pig, devoted to the special cured pork of Spain and other Spanish-inspired dishes. Federico Castellucci III---his father and the family founded the now-closed chain Roasted Garlic and the still-operating Sugo---with his sister Stephanie, are both graduates of Cornell's hospitality school, as is their partner and chef, Chad Crete. Rather than being particularly a Spanish restaurant, the establishment leans more pan-Hispanic, doing such dishes as pork-cheek tacos as a tapa. While there are main dish items to enjoy, the pleasure of the place resides in those tapas, such as a very good interpretation of Catalan pan con tomate, for which tomato is smeared onto crusty bread. The Iberian ham itself, the star of the show, is sliced traditionally, but lacks the depth of flavor found in Spain. Spanish cheeses make a substantial statement here. The wine list focuses on Spain, of course, but there are selections from other parts of the Hispanic world and the U.S. Don't bring the car; the restaurant is steps away from the Decatur MARTA station.
