This neighborhood bistro has proven itself a worthy value and has remained open even as all around it has metamorphosed into other establishments. While the standards of Thai cooking are well done, check out the specials, such as jumping shrimps, a tad spicy but not too much. Grilled shrimps are seasoned with lime and Thai spices, and arranged on a bed of greens. Hi Ginger is a base of ginger, onions and straw mushrooms on rice. Patrons need only add chicken, beef or pork to this rice-based dish. Familiar Thai curries are well prepared, but check out such delights as any of the four different snapper preparations. Even some of the dinner entrées are priced at about $10, and a few for less. Value? You bet. While this wine list isn’t extensive, the selections are decent, although they aren’t generally appropriate for this food. A good rosé and a Riesling would go a long way toward elevating the whole dining experience.
