Rino's Tuscan Grill Description:
Rino Balzano's got a wood-burning oven and he knows how to use it. That is to say, he uses it for almost everything, from Bosc pears roasted with Gorgonzola and speck to tender branzino smothered in a crust of salt. The results are addictively delicious. This veteran chef-proprietor has been a longtime area favorite since his days at Il Tartufo, when he used to wear a mike on his jacket lapel and burst into arias at any given moment. But he's known just as much for his northern Italian specialties as he is for his operatic vocals. Enjoy his pumpkin-stuffed tortelli touched with a light butter sauce, fresh sage and pine nuts; house-made, black-ink lobster ravioli; and topini (potato dumplings) with equal fervor. Or opt for the du jours---Balzano offers both a risotto and a veal scaloppine of the day, the latter of which could be garnished with anything ranging from speck to capers to roasted peppers. Note: The long, narrow, romantically lighted restaurant offers a variety of seating options with excellent people-watching opps.
