Falher, Alta, Town, pop 941 (2006c), 1109 (2001c), inc 1955. Falher is located 60 km south of PEACE RIVER. It was named (1929) for Rev Constant Falher, OMI, who brought the first French Canadian settlers to the area Aug 1912. In 1916 the Edmonton, Dunvegan and BC Ry arrived, and Falher grew as a distribution centre for a prosperous cereal grain and CANOLA growing area. Two alfalfa pelletizing plants produce 120 000 t annually and more than 25 000 beehives in the region produce more than 2 million kg of honey, earning the town the nickname "Honey Capital of Canada."
