Location: Ezhou lies in the east of Hubei Province, on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. It is bordered by Wuhan in the west and by Huangshi in the east.
History: Long time before the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, this region has been called 'E' as a shire or a county. During the Three Kingdoms Period, the Wu Kingdom put it as the capital, and changed its name to Wuchang.
Physical Features: The terrain in southeastern Ezhou is higher and that in central and northwestern Ezhou is relatively flatter and lower. River and lake plains are mainly distributed in the west. The Yangtze River runs through the northern boundary area. The city has more than eighty lakes of all sizes.
Climatic Features: Ezhou enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate, with an annual average temperature of 17C (63F). It has abundant rainfall and sunshine, together with four distinct seasons. Summer is the rainy season, and the weather is torrid and wet. Spring and winter is cold.
When to Go: Generally, the best time to Hubei Province is in spring and autumn, and Ezhou is especially favorable for visiting at the summer's end and the start of autumn.

Scenic Spots:
Liangzi Lake is the second largest lake in Hubei, and it is the home of the famous Wuchang fish. Clear water and lake islands are the highlights of the scenic area. The lake is linked with the Yangtze River through a long harbor in the north. Tourist facilities on the Liangzi Island are well arranged, and they will bring great convenience to the visitors on the island.
Lianhua (Lotus) Mountian stands on the lakeside in south outskirt of Ezhou. Its picturesque scenery makes it a well known attraction in the city. As to the buildings in the scenic area, the Yuanming Pagoda, Lianhuashan Stele Forest and many other sights are all the spectacular highlights of the mountain resort.
Tourist Tips:
1. Ezhou do not have airport. But Ezhou is only 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the capital city of the province, Wuhan, and 70 kilometers (43 miles) from Wuhan Tianhe International Airport. Visitors can get to Ezhou from Wuhan within one hour. Notable is that, there are no direct airport buses between Wuhan airport and Ezhou. Visitors should get to downtown Wuhan first.
