Eat First Description:
This spare restaurant lacks any vestiges of Chinese frills, but it does boast in-Chinese menu offerings posted to the wall. Otherwise, this is all about serious, primarily Cantonese cooking. Since Cantonese dishes predominate, you might opt for seafood fare, such as the baked shrimp in shells or the Aberdeen Pearl stir-fried clams (Aberdeen is a town in Hong Kong). We also suggest the good tofu dishes, and we especially like the non-Cantonese ma po tofu, though it could use an extra jolt of chili. With its proximity to the Verizon Center, Eat First does a brisk business, and may be one of the longest-lasting holdouts against the conversion of Chinatown to a Western restaurant scene.
