Eatonville Inc Description:
Named after the town where Howard University student and eventual artist Zora Neal Hurston grew up---Eatonville, Florida, one of the first all African-American towns---the restaurant has taken traditional Southern and soul food and given it a mighty contemporary spin. Think hush puppies and gumbo, and crispy-fried catfish perched on creamy grits sparked by jalapeños. Of course, the menu includes fried chicken with mashed potatoes, oyster po' boys, and a crab burger. If you are in search of a Sunday brunch spot, you might want to drop by to indulge your palate in a menu that culls from the identical lunch-dinner menus but augments those choices with a
buttermilk biscuit with country ham and Creole mustard hollandaise, baked egg with creamed spinach and a biscuit, and scrambled eggs with tomatoes, chicken andouille sausage, cheese and a biscuit. And for dessert? The silken chocolate pie is a killer.
