Thai Kingdom Description:
Once a popular destination with outstanding food, Thai Kingdom seems now to rest only on its reputation---and its positively impressive Thai décor. Swathed in reds and golds, the interior has become a shrine to both Buddhism and the Thai royal family:; pictures of Buddhist monks and members of the Thai royal family (primarily the king) abound, and the restaurant is a visual reminder of Thailands luxurious accoutrements, even if the food has become a dismal shadow of a truly glorious cuisine. We pushed aside the duck salad that was gristly and flavorless, left half-eaten the lemongrass soup, and found the chicken spiced on a hot pan nothing more than a Chinese-like stir-fry. So disappointing was the meal that we voted against dessert and headed home.

Review :
Thai Kingdom really set the bar high for Thai food in Washington DC. I've been to many places passing bland food off as "Thai," but Thai Kingdom's food really hit all the marks. A great combination of Spicy, Tangy, every dish that I've had was thoughtfully prepared. The lunch crowd on weekdays can be a little overwhelming, so I generally choose dinners there. My vegetarian friend swears by this place since they have a full menu for him. The place is well decorated, with woodwork and lots of vintage photographs. I've been coming back again over 20 years, and I'm always full and happy by the time the meal is done.
