Johnny Rockets Description:
This locale of the chain of 1950s-style diners is located in Union Station's food court, but the counter seats, tabletop jukeboxes and related nostalgic paraphernalia is all there. Unlike most of its neighbors, Johnny Rocket's has its own tables and a wait staff. It is a reasonably priced alternative for local office workers lunching or travelers connecting trains upstairs.
If you could turn the clock back a few decades, you'd eat at some place like Johnny Rockets. You'd listen to the jukebox, eat underdone fries and overdone burgers, and sip Cokes or milk shakes. In short, you'd do just what today's twenty- and thirtysomethings are doing. Because this is really a glorified soda fountain, Johnny Rockets offers a big dose of nostalgia plus casual eats for every generation. You'll find more than just burgers: club sandwiches, BLTs, hot dogs, chili dogs, and grilled cheese sandwiches are some of the other possibilities. Service may be disjointed and slow; on the other hand, this place is not about haute cuisine. A good destination for a slow trip down memory lane.
