Old Monk Description:
This is the joint to hit up when a fish 'n' chips craving strikes: delicately battered and nicely fried fish, served with a massive mound of long, stringy fries. Even though the bar is owned by a couple of Irish guys who prefer that you douse your fish with malt vinegar, ketchup is also available. The hearty moules frites come with the same fab fries. If fowl sounds better than fish, then try the pistachio fried chicken, served with Strongbow cider barbecue sauce and ranch dressing. German sausages, an English cheese board and sandwiches are also on the menu, all fine complements to the dozens of European beers on hand. If it's a hair-of-the-dog sort of day, a visit to The Old Monk is an excellent way to atone for last night's debauchery.
