Villagio Restaurant Description:
Carpaccio, Bella Luna, Luna Café, Rosalia: While Tom Billante's string of Italian eateries are not chain clones, similar menus (and the same casually fashionable feel) do make it seem that if you've been to one, you've been to all. Villagio's menu follows the formula, featuring nicely-priced portions of simple, skillfully flavor-balanced fare: hearty soups, like Tuscan pasta fagioli; sparkling-fresh salads, such as the Niçoise-inspired St. Tropez (potatoes, string beans, tuna, hardboiled egg, olives, artichokes); numerous inventive beef and fish carpaccios; al dente pastas, including the Pennette Harry's Bar (sauced with garlic, spinach and pine-nuts, plus both fresh and sun-dried tomatoes); generously-sized meat and fish entrées; and signature brick-oven pizzas, especially lunchtime's Pizza Pazza, topped with prosciutto and crisp extra virgin olive oil-dressed arugula. What makes Villagio stand out is its atmospheric garden court setting, replete with fountains, sculpture and royal palms; definitely grab a table outside.
