With windows dominating its quaint white façade and a relaxed atmosphere pervading its interior, Beach House Café recalls a seaside retreat; only the avenue view and the absence of sand beneath your feet keep you anchored in Old Greenwich. In the Oval Bar, sky-blue and pale sea foam hues and a smattering of grassy marsh plants further the shoreline motif, while black-on-white cushions and murals add vaguely urban touches of modernity to the dining room. The menu follows suit, keeping the contemporary coastal American fare invitingly simple. Keep it basic and begin with the grilled vegetable and mozzarella quesadilla, generously stuffed with various squash, zucchini and mushrooms. Move onto the tender cut of grilled salmon with sun-dried tomatoes and pistachio butter over spinach and orzo, a light but surprisingly flavorful dish. Speaking of coastal and being in New England territory, after all, you would be remiss not to try the clam roll, laden with whole bellies only, of course.
