Osteria Applausi, one of three restaurants under the Marchetti-Tarantino family duo of restaurateurs, has become a neighborhood favorite for locals seeking well prepared Italian regional cuisine. What also distinguishes the restaurant from its competitors is pasta made fresh six days a week by the owner, Maria Marchetti. It's a personal touch that's difficult to find these days. Enjoy the gli asparagi alla Parmigiana (asparagus baked with Parmigiano cheese) served au gratin or the tortellini in brodo, classic tortellini pasta in chicken broth. Then one of Marchetti's homemade pastas is a must. Try the le fettuccine con purée di fave e cardoncelli, fettuccine with fava bean purée and wild mushrooms, or the tordelli al brasato di vegetali, meat ravioli served with a braised root vegetable ragù. Osteria Applausi also features a menu of house specialties such as the classic l'ossobuco con risotto, slow-braised veal shank served with saffron risotto.
