Senate Description:
One of Cincinnati's most buzzed-about dining spots is in a trendy section of the city's urban core of Over-the-Rhine. If you can have a power lunch over beer and hot dogs, this is the place to do it. You can get a $9 "trailer park" dog (that's a bacon-wrapped beef hot dog, wrapped in American cheese and topped with coleslaw and crushed Grippo's potato chips) and wash it down with a fashionable Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Or you can be decadent and get an $11 peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich---actually a PBJ&F---that has a slice of foie gras slipped inside. Senate's menu has a whole section of "street and savory," with items like a braised lobster BLT and an Angus burger topped with caramelized onions and house-made pickles. And fries, oh yeah, they have fries. Duck-fat fries, truffle fries, lobster mac & cheese fries. The shotgun brick building, modernized and opened up to the street close to the downtown business district, is a popular after-work spot for the happy hour crowd. Old-fashioned cocktails like the Streetcar (apricot brandy, walnut-infused Cognac and soda) or the selection of craft beers pair nicely with the finger foods.
