Bistro Campagne Description:
Nestled in the heart of Lincoln Square is Bistro Campagne. Opened in 2003 the low key restaurant serves up affordable French cuisine. The wine list is short but carefully picked with full bottles topping at around $50. There is also a full bar. You'll find that the menu changes seasonally. Everything is made fresh with as many organic and locally grown ingrediants as possible.
Campagne has stayed true to its original form over the years to remain a simple, organic bistro. Its cozy, woody décor and compact, mostly French menu wisely stays affordable---good for the singles and young families. We applaud the commitment to low-impact agriculture and antibiotic- and hormone-free ingredients. We gravitate toward the charcuterie plate, caramelized onion strudel and whitefish with cauliflower purée in caper-brown butter, all of which are delightful. Another top pick is the roasted rabbit loin and braised leg with Brussels sprouts in mustard sauce. For dessert, only the crème brûlée or pot de crème au chocolat will do. Decent wines, a nice selection of craft beers and helpful, friendly service round out the picture. The walled garden is one of the loveliest in town, and a close proximity to the Old Town School of Folk Music means that musicians occasionally stop by to play and sing---for their supper or at least the joy of performing.
