John Harvard's Brew House Description:
A brew house and restaurant, John Harvard's provides the Harvard Square area with a large pub and dining area.
Almost always busy with many students, this large basement location offers several TV screens around the bar and as well as more dining oriented areas.
The beer produced on location can also be purchased to be taken home.
John Harvard's plies a laid-back Harvard crowd with old-fashioned pour-house charm. Cheeky stained glass windows line a cavernous yet somehow cozy subterranean space crammed with frat rats and lager geeks. Though the beers are generally good to excellent (stouts fare especially well), the food has its ups and downs---especially downs. Burgers, wings and nachos fit the standard pub-menu profile, while the meatloaf and spinach-artichoke dip exceed it; Asian crispadillas and pastas, on the other hand, aim higher than they land. Just remember that in a brewpub, brew comes first, and you'll do fine.
