Capo fare can be described as a modern Italian style cuisine. Homemade pastas, fresh seafood and fireplace-grilled meats are some of the chef's favorites.
This slender space is warm, elegant and extremely cozy. No one seems to mind sitting elbow-to-elbow as they pay top dollar---Capo is indeed one of the city's priciest Italian restaurants---for a pared-down, orderly selection of classics such as a baby octopus salad; bluefin tuna tartare; porcini, zucchini flower or lobster risotto truly cooked to order; or ravioli filled with four cheeses and sumptuously finished off with shavings of white truffles. Owner-chef and local restaurateur Bruce Marder can sometimes be found grilling items over a wood-burning hearth in the corner of the restaurant: rosemary-scented rack of lamb, Dover sole and hefty steaks. A dizzying array of desserts (farmers market fruit brûlée, Meyer lemon semifreddo, tiramisu) or a fine cheese plate provide nice finales.
