The Endless Summer Bar-Café Description:
A celebration of local surf culture, The Endless Summer is more about ambience than dining. The menu is unassuming, with typical California-style fare such as spinach salad with sesame-crusted ahi and a Baja chicken sandwich topped with Ortega chilies, guacamole and jack cheese. Located on the second floor of Santa Barbara's former Naval Armory building, the room offers breathtaking views from the offshore islands to the mountains. For outdoor dining, there are two tropical-themed lanais. Inside, it's like a surfing memorabilia museum, including classic posters from the movie that gave its name to the restaurant. In fact, filmmaker Bruce Brown gave his blessing for the title to be used for this eatery, and he's still a regular here. While the food is somewhat pedestrian, the place is frequently packed, particularly the bar during happy hour. There's a nice selection of local wines by the glass, and the laid-back service goes well with the coastal setting.
