Acquapazza Description:
Inspired by the Mediterranean coast, AcquaPazza touts a refreshingly breezy interior with high ceilings and a color palette of sandy browns, sea foam greens, and cyan blue. Modern touches come in the form of local artist Claude Klari Reis' intricate, large-scaled ceramic installations. From the kitchen come deeply traditional recipes directly from Naples, such as the calamarata AcquaPazza, the restaurant's signature dish and its namesake (which translates to "crazy water"); the only thing crazy about it is the bounty of prawns, little neck clams, calamari and tender baby octopus that infiltrate thick, ring-shaped pasta in a light tomato sauce. Another force in the kitchen is Mamma Carmela, mother to the three brothers who own and operate the restaurant. Mamma's dishes include crisp, gooey arancini that have the power to make anyone yearn for their childhood. Desserts are also Italian with the winner being the babba con panna, a sponge cake soaked with rum to the point of flooding. When selecting a wine, be sure to ask the staff for recommendations as they can point you to many of Naples' best offerings.
