Applewood Pizza Description:
Applewood is more than just a pizza place. It's a restaurant where 10th birthdays are celebrated with gooey slices of cheese pizza. It's a spot where softball teams commiserate over pitchers of imported beer after disappointing losses. It's a location where families go when they absolutely can't decide on anything else that the kids, the parents and the grandparents can all agree on. It's truly part of the very fabric---and culture---of the Peninsula. All of that wouldn't mean squat if the pizza didn't cut it. Fortunately, the neighborly Applewood delivers some of the finest upscale gourmet pies in the area. The prices, it's important to note, match the quality. The pies, which come with a medium-thick crust and are moderately sauced, are all fantastic. Veggie lovers will dig the Florentine, which is packed with marinated artichokes, mushrooms, bell peppers and fresh tomatoes. Two other favorites are the Budapest, topped with sautéed onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and Hungarian sausage; and the Prawn, loaded with plump prawns, and roasted peppers, onions and garlic.
