L.A. Food Show Description:
Larry Flax and Rick Rosenfield opened their first California Pizza Kitchen in 1985. LA Food Show is the prototype for their second potential chain, and the CPK lineage shows at this Manhattan Village Mall eatery. The room is a slightly clubbier version of CPK, with an open kitchen and wide booths. Only the pretty bar lends the space any character. The food here is reliably good but not outstanding---it's Americana with a dash of Asian and Italian, and it fails to make an impression. Still, there's an interesting variety, the menu populated with dishes as disparate as chicken Marsala and short ribs with buttermilk mashed potatoes. LA Food Show rates above average for a mall location, but neither the cuisine nor the ambience warrants a long journey.

Review :
Went to dinner at Manhattan Beach's LA Food Show in Manhattan Village. Have been there many times for lunch and dinner and always found the food to be good, not great but still good with some things better than others.
We went to dinner with spouse and 7 year old child. Seated quickly at 6:15p (not even half full), given our menus and a promotional card advertising half off drinks and appetizers prior to 6:30p. Hmm....it's before 6:30p so let's order appetizers.
When the bill arrived, I noticed that the appetizers were full price. Brought it to waiters' attention who called the manager over. He explained that it was only for those customers who sat in the bar. I informed him we were seated in the dining room, have a young child and was handed the card by the hostess with no indication that it was for bar service only. The manager then pointed out in VERY SMALL PRINT and VERY LIGHT INK, the caveat. I asked if it was only for bar service, why were we given the card at the dining table. His response, "We want to advertise our specials to all of our guests". No apology, nothing. Needless to say, we won't be back. In today's economy, you would think restaurant managers would want to have repeat customers. Our bill was over $50 and the savings would have only been $5 but it's the principal and now, LA Food Show has lost another customer!
