Goshi Description:
When Goshi opened a sister spot to its San Luis Obispo location, it rounded out the expanding and increasingly diverse restaurant scene in Paso Robles. The chefs at this sushi bar and Japanese restaurant do both the raw and cooked aspects of the menu equally well. Case in point is the barbecued beef dinner combination---tender and thinly-sliced meat drizzled with a savory sauce and served with rice, miso soup, light but crispy vegetable tempura, a crunchy sesame seaweed salad, and a small California roll. A lot of the other sushi rolls are spicy and served with a zingy signature sauce made with chili paste, soy, homemade ponzu and mayo, so be aware of that when ordering, though they do have Kirin beer on tap, which will help cool the palate. A non-spicy option is the albacore tataki---flash-seared fish, sliced and served with a light soy-rice vinegar dipping sauce. Sushi bar specials depend on what's fresh, but offerings have included Kumamoto oysters and octopus marinated in pieces of wasabi root. Dessert choices consist of green tea ice cream, red bean ice cream and mochi.
