The Steakhouse at Azul La Jolla Description:
With a sweeping view of La Jolla Cove and the northward-stretching cliffs, Azul probably could get away with effectively renting out its tables by peddling high-priced but mediocre fare. But instead it offers high-quality steakhouse fare, shifting from what had been Mediterranean-influence cuisine. While the menu may have classics like meaty crab cakes or shrimp cocktail to start, there's also some nice creativity at hand like Humboldt Fog fondue with Parmesan crostini, bourbon creamed corn, and cedar-smoked organic Shetland salmon. When it comes to steaks, Azul serves up USDA Prime Midwest corn-fed beef (custom-aged for a minimum of 28 days) from Central Meat & Provision Company and tasty Kobe-style Wagyu beef. Chef Carmine Lopez also offers chops, poultry, and tasty seafood like her thick swordfish steaks in avocado lime butter. Desserts are indulgent with choices like chocolate decadence cake and espresso crème brûlée. The lush garden patio with fire pit and ocean views makes for a nice ambience in which to enjoy the food.
