1500 Ocean Description:
The Hotel Del's aging Prince of Wales got a fresh makeover and emerged as an airy, romantic seaside restaurant. Whether dining outside or in the comfortably elegant, glass-walled dining room, views of the Pacific are a fine match for the contemporary California-meets-Cabo menu. Appetizers that wow include lime-and-honey-cured yellowtail with avocado mousse and jicama; garlic-roasted Mexican white shrimp with black bean purée and tomatillo pico de gallo; and an organic hen egg toad-in-the-hole with chanterelles and leeks. Entrées are equally striking, including the Muscovy duck confit with stewed shell beans, Tuscan kale and garlicky sausage, and the pan-seared scallops with lobster and bacon succotash. The pastry chef has a deft hand, so don't miss desserts like warm mango rice pudding or the medjool date and almond tart with orange blossom honey and blue cheese mousse.
