Featuring polished, modern environs and friendly (but slightly scattered) service, this appealing, reliable Emeryville Thai restaurant and bar is a good choice for post-work cocktails and dining. Refreshing touches of character---vibrant throw pillows, pop art, piped-in Thai lessons in the restrooms---add an independent, neighborhood atmosphere in a square-mile city otherwise clogged with chain eateries. Above-average entrées include most curries, fresh salads (including a very good seaweed version), fish and noodle dishes, though speedy happy hour items---crab Rangoon wontons, summer rolls---can be hit-or-miss (at nothing above $5, however, the price is certainly right). Also notable: the restaurant features northern Thai khao soi, a mélange of noodles, curry, pickled vegetables and meat rarely found in western Thai eateries.
