Emeryville yuppies breathe a collective sigh of relief over E-22's fresh panini, salads and pizza in a town dominated by one massive food court. In fact, during the lunch rush, it feels like all of them are squeezed into the café's noodle-sized space, waiting to order sandwiches of slow roasted pork shoulder or pasta e fagioli with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice or perhaps, on particularly hard Mondays, even a glass of wine. A lucky few snag seats inside the café or beneath Illy umbrellas on the patio, where by simply ignoring the raging intersection and staring lovingly at their baby spring mix and mozzarella, they can almost imagine themselves in an Italian piazza.
