Fortune Chinese Cuisine Description:
It’s not easy being a neighbor of Yujean Kang’s, especially if you’re a Chinese restaurant. But the unassuming and unheralded Fortune, across the street from Kang’s celebrated temple of nouvelle Chinese cuisine, does a pretty solid job with traditional favorites like Szechuan beef, kung pao scallops, mu shu chicken (there’s no pork on the menu), even Peking duck. There is a considerable emphasis on health-conscious ingredients and preparation, with remarkably low calorie counts listed alongside many menu entries. Aesthetically, Fortune is a cut above the typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant, with white-linened tables, rich wood accents and tasteful art. And the service at this neighborhood charmer could not be any warmer or more accommodating.
