EuroPane Description:
Proprietor Sumi Chang, who worked with Nancy Silverton at Campanile and trained at Paris' renowned pâtisserie, Lenôtre, has done it again. She has reprised her renowned bakery---always popular with intellectuals and foodies---with a second edition just a mile down the street. This one, on the ground floor of the chic Montana Residences, is more hip than the no-frills original. Here, mod white chairs are paired with white tables, while a rough-hewn wooden communal table occupies the center of the whitewashed room, which has walls lined with black-and-white photos of a Russian bakery. The lemon bars, strudel, sticky buns and croissants---all rich in butter, sugar, eggs and cream---make their appearances, as do quiches and fresh-baked breads. Sandwiches are offered, too, including the cult favorite open-faced egg salad, layered with greens and sun-dried tomato paste. Afterward, take home some of the best renditions of authentic Parisian macarons in L.A.
