A Single Pebble Description:
A traditional Chinese restaurant that prepares each dish individually, bringing it out as it is ready. Dining is centered on a rotating "lazy-susan" in the center of the table, and each diner takes from the center to their own dish.
A Single Pebble boasts a sophisticated waitstaff and a menu marked by exciting specials (for example, deep-fried shiitake mushrooms, masquerading as mock eel). This is authentic Szechuan with a fanciful twist. Chef Steve Bogart's kitchen imports ingredients weekly from New York's Chinatown. Among them you can expect the unexpected: sugar-battered walnuts, tender bites of double garlic eggplant, and soy-puckered green beans. We like the attention paid to every detail: tables are booked at two-hour intervals, and the owners request that cell phones be silenced. Now there's nothing to distract us from indulging in the tangy citrus wonderland that is the tangerine-peel chicken or the sinful lemon-sesame shrimp, with its ginger-kissed crunch. Lazy Susans on the table encourage a friendly intimacy that's fun for groups and perfect for dates. You won't find better Chinese for 200 miles.
