Village Smokehouse Description:
The place bills itself as "authentic Texas barbecue," and the well-scrubbed Brookliners who frequent it probably buy the hype. But the ersatz roadhouse setting is neither authentic nor funky, and the brisket, which should be the pièce de resistance, is dry. Some of the food is okay and you do get a lot of it, from jalapeño poppers to "death fajitas." So bargain-hunters can stake their claim here, but barbecue aficionados should steer clear.
