Dok Bua Description:
Formerly an Asian grocery with a small café on the side, Brookline's Dok Bua---which means lotus flower---is now the reverse, thanks to the word-of-mouth raves of Thai hounds. The menu is enormous, atypical and authentic: Burmese-influenced Northern specialties, rootsy favorites from the Northeastern Thai region known as Esarn, and basic noodle dishes like pad kee mao (drunken noodles) and aromatic green or red curries abound. Flavors are amplified in the same fashion, upon request, as one would find on a street in Bangkok. Like its namesake, it's a rare beauty indeed, at least in these parts.
