Turner Fisheries Description:
Sapphire hues, a curving staircase and dramatically mod light fixtures make for a striking backdrop against which this upscale fish house in The Westin Copley Place sets its dishes. Because the hotel caters to conventioneers, the menu must as well to some degree. However, chowder, scrod and steamers remain the exception to the rule of an appealingly inventive repertoire, showing Asian influence here, Mediterranean pull there and a knack for keeping things light all over. Take the signature bamboo steamer basket, a three-tiered extravaganza of chunked fish and shellfish with a green papaya slaw and dipping sauces, or pan-seared mackerel, a wonderfully funky fish in itself, further glammed up with a vanilla beurre blanc and shaved fennel. The wine list is varied and refreshingly reasonable, especially for Back Bay, with plenty of bottles under $50.
