Talk about no-nonsense: this bare-bones Downtown Crossing pub offers cheap booze and precious little else---which is precisely what its guy's-guy regulars like about it. You can tuck into standard American pub grub (cheeseburgers, Buffalo wings, quesadillas, fries) most of the week, but don't come hungry on Sundays---you'll find drinks and a big-screen TV your only distractions. The kitchen at the beloved South End branch (117 E. Berkeley St., Boston, 617-728-9101), meanwhile, takes a more Irish-style tack---and the results, from curry fries to shepherd's pie, aren't half-bad.
